SCAR TISSUE RELEASE TECHNIQUE

McLoughlin Scar Tissue Release Technique ® (MSTR®)

Paula Esson has been involved with the groundbreaking  international research project using scientific principles and ultrasound to fully understand the mechanisms of the work. As a sport scientist  has witnessed changes in movement, pain and emotions after treatment.

The McLoughlin Scar Tissue Release Technique ® (MSTR®) is an amazing advancement in the treatment of scar tissue and is changing people’s lives.

It is gentle, non-invasive and has been shown through research to improve blood supply in and around the scar which is vital and change the dimensions of the scar tissue. By assisting movement and sliding mechanisms in the soft tissue around the scar, adhesions can be reduced and normal patterns of movement through the body systems helped. |t is a very specific technique where we will use assessment to understand how you are improving with the work.

MSTR® is used for:

  • Caesarian section scars
  • Hysterectomy scars
  • Spinal surgery scars
  • Trauma scars such as those typically found on the knee / hip following surgery.
  • Head wound scars
  • Mastectomy scars etc…
  • Amputation scars
  • Underlying scar tissue from laparoscopic surgery

We are finding that it can be used in a whole host of additional problems where underlying fibrous tissue is present. This includes:

  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Certain cases of frozen shoulder
  • Sports injuries (such as quadriceps and hamstring tears)
  • Axillary Web Syndrome (AWS)
  • Underlying scar tissue from surgeries or tissue traumas
  • Any areas of dense fibrous tissue
